He was born on June 25, 1935 in Isabel, LA to the late Lester Corkern and Martha Ellen Galloway Corkern. Troy is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Alice Taylor Corkern. He was the loving father of Brenda C. Salter (Dewain) and Kevin T. Corkern (Teresa). Troy was the brother of Doris Tadlock, Dorothy Woolley, Hollis Corkern, the late Willard Corkern, Cleo Corkern, Nellie Spencer, Golda Johnson, Edith Jones, Theresa Corkern, Lavern Corkern, Thurston Corkern, and Corinne Corkern. Troy is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Troy worked for Prestressed Concrete for 18 years and worked during the construction of the second span of the Causeway. In 1973, he opened his own business, Corkern Air Condition and Heating. Troy was a member of the Covington Masonic Lodge #188 and Zona Lodge #337 in Enon. He was a perpetual member of the Royal Arch and Council. Troy was a member of the St. Paul Commandery No. 27 Knights Templar. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM. A WAKE will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation on Wednesday will be from 9:00 AM until service time. A Masonic Service will take place at 10:30 AM.
