On Friday, May 6 viewing will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Fieldings Funeral Home located at 2260 W 21st Avenue in Covington. (985) 892-9222. The graveside service will be at the Mausoleum in the Garden of the Pines on Columbia Street in downtown Covington at 11:00. Scotty was born in Schriever on August 19, 1925. She graduated from Terrebonne High School. On January 27, 1946, Scotty married John DiMaggio. Scotty worked as a medical transcription for several years before retiring to serve as a Welcome Wagon hostess, a hospice sitter, a diligent and long time adopter of patients at Forest Manor Nursing Home, a Sierra Club and Habitiat for Humanity volunteer, and outreach through the First United Methodist Church of Covington. Scotty was known not only for her heart for service, but also her love of nature, especially birds and wild flowers. She was also a gifted quilter, and her works adorn many a home. Scotty is survived by her children Donna Su, John DiMaggio, and Michael DiMaggio; her sisters Pat Bergeron and Bonnie Thibodeaux; her grandchildren John Staples, Austin Morrison, Maggie Savage, and Kevin DiMaggio; her great grandchildren Gabriel Morrison, Seth Morrison, Jude Morrison, and Palmer Savage; nieces Kelly Thibodeaux, Kitty Ford, Jan Bouzigard, Catherine Hammons, Mary Chancey, Shelly Crain, and Carol Freeman; and nephews Keith Bergeron, James Bergeron, Ted Bergeron, Matt Bergeron, and Glenn Bergeron. She was preceded in death by her husband John DiMaggio, her parents Dewey Bergeron and Laura Boudreaux Bergeron, her brother Bobby Bergeron, her sisters Ruby Cormier and Jackie Duet, and her grandson Eric Staples Morrison.
