"Sawmill" Jenkins, Sr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 with his family at his side. He was born on Thursday, August 25, 1927 to Tera Fussell Jenkins and Ross Jenkins and was a life-long resident of Folsom, LA. Together with his father in 1948, Huey founded Jenkins Lumber Company and recently proudly passed all operations over to his next generation. He was a lifetime member of the Covington Lions’ Club and also generously gave his time and resources to the Northshore community that he loved so dearly and called home. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lucie Monlezun Jenkins, as well as daughter - Constance Jenkins Tyler and son - Huey L. Jenkins, Jr.; He is also survived by eight grandchildren - Ryan Tyler (Kate), Cheryl Tyler, Jessica Brewster (Drew), Ryan Adams, A.J. Adams (Kayla), Huey L. "Trey" Jenkins, III. (Katie), Lauren Jenkins, and Ross Jenkins; and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son - Dalton R. Jenkins; and his sister - Dorothy E. Jenkins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at 12:00 Noon on Monday, May 9, 2016 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433. Visiting hours on Monday will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment at the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Folsom, LA will immediately follow services.
