He was born on January 11, 1933 in Wisner, LA to the late Clyde Mayo Thompson and Lillian Kimble Thompson. Bo is now reunited with his wife Peggy whom he’s missed terribly. Family was always the most important thing to Bo but he especially loved his role as Papa. His grandkids meant everything to him and he wouldn’t dare miss a practice, game or program. He was their biggest fan and supporter and was so proud of them all. Sports were always a big part of Bo’s life. He grew up playing baseball and eventually spent time pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals farm team. He was then drafted into the Navy where he spent time playing baseball for the Navy team and then served in the Coast Guard reserve for several years. Later in life he was as an avid golfer and tennis player at Covington Country Club. Bo retired from Bellsouth after working there for 37 years as an engineer and remained active in the Pioneer Group after retirement. He was active in the Church of Christ for many years where he raised his family and most recently attended First Baptist Church of Covington. Bo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Kilpatrick Thompson. He was the loving father of Jeff S. Thompson (Kendra), Lisa T. Springer (Rick), Stuart Thompson (Melissa), Linda T. Melerine (Rhett), Brenda T. Leffler (Dave), and the late Randall Thompson. Bo was the proud grandfather “Papa” of Karsten, Austin, and Braxton Thompson, Morgan and Madison Springer, Lillian Thompson, Percie Melerine, and Darby Leffler. He was the great-grandfather of Kanton Thompson. Bo was the brother of Martha Ann Farrar (James), Ginny Mayo (Mack), the late Billy Thompson (Caroline) and Don “TJoe” Thompson (Kay). Bo is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 3:00 PM with visitation from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow the services at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA. US Navy ===================
