A resident of St. Tammany Parish for most of his life, he was born on Monday, September 12, 1960 in New Orleans, LA to Malvina Guerrera Blackledge and Gilbert J. Brown, Sr., who preceded him in death. His step-father, Clois Clifton Blackledge, Sr. also precedes in death. Norman was incredibly generous and cared deeply for his many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. This was very evident by the numerous charities to which he donated monthly and by the weekly home visits he would make to family members and friends after work every day. He is survived by eight brothers - Gilbert J. Brown, Jr. (Karen), Johnny Brown, Patrick Brown (Stacy), Andy Brown, Gary Blackledge (Debbie), Willie Blackledge (Christy), Clois Blackledge, Jr. and Paul Blackledge (Rosanna); six sisters - Stacy Brown, Joann Blackledge, Paula Ann LeMarie (Ernie), Karen, Mary K. and Kathy Blackledge; and he is also survived by a multitude of close friends and a church family that loved him and will truly miss him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433. Visiting hours will take place from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM. Interment at the Gibson Family Cemetery in Sun, LA will immediately follow the funeral. Considering Norman's charitable nature and the unbelievable consistency with which he donated, it seems appropriate to print his list of charities and ask for donations in lieu of flowers: Disabled Veterans Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, the Hospice Support Fund, American Federation of Police, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Paralyzed and Disabled Police Officers, Boys Town, the American Heart Association and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency. Letters of appreciation written to Norman for his donations came from each of these charities listed above and were found in his mail at home. ===================
