She was seventy-six years old. The daughter of John Clay and Elisabeth Molloy Prieto, Mary had an indelible personality, possessing a very quick and sly smile. She was always prepared for pleasant conversation and, only very possibly, a Johnnie Walker Red. Kind, bold, and pleasantly fastidious, Mary loved fine foods, fine dining, and sometimes, not-so-fine wine. She had an unwavering knack for bringing out the best in people and was truly at her finest when entertaining, or in the company of the people she loved. After graduating from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, she moved to Houston and began working for the Houston Post, but her desire for adventure led her elsewhere. In 1962 she moved to Europe and began working for the U.S. Army Special Services division, living and working in Chignon, France. There she met and married Tommy Lauren Golden, of Santa Barbara, California. After Larry retired from the U.S. Army, they returned to Louisiana to raise their two sons. Mary was a person of action and through the years had carefully crafted herself into a humanitarian heart; she provided care and support to those in need, assisting numerous friends and loved ones on their journeys. Through her guidance and exceptional influence she drastically changed people’s lives for the better, providing them with the wings to fly through life with determination. She was an unparalleled and irreplaceable friend, wife, and mother who will be dearly, dearly missed. She is survived by her two sons, Molloy Caldwell Golden of Southern Pines, North Carolina, Lauren Browning Golden of Abita Springs, her grandson, Jackson Henry Golden, her sister Joan Clay Prieto Doolittle, her nephews Clay and Ernest Prieto, her niece, Malise Prieto, and numerous family members from the Schoen and Prieto families. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and her brother John Ernest Prieto. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 2:00 PM with visitation on Saturday beginning at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mrs. Golden to be made to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (http://sowfgift.org/) and donate in honor of a loved one to the Covenant House (www.covenanthouse.org ). ===================
