GiGi was 92 years old. Originally from New Orleans, GiGi graduated from Louise S. McGehee School in 1941. Covington eventually became her home, where she resided for nearly 50 years. Her house was her haven, where she enjoyed playing bridge with friends, tending to her garden, knitting beautiful Afghans, painting an array of oil paintings, and watching sports (golf and football) on television. She especially enjoyed having family and friends over and treating them to lunch; Saturdays became a welcomed ritual that will be greatly missed. An avid animal lover, she took in many cats and dogs and found much comfort in their companionship. GiGi was a generous and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, and was particularly beautiful, both inside and out. Her beauty aged her well. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Chadwick Minge, her adoring daughter, Anne Taber Katz, and her parents, James G. Aldige, Jr. and Anna Monnot Aldige. GiGi is survived by her 3 children, Katherine “Kitty” O’Dwyer (Ashton), William “Billy” Taber (Sarah), Thomas “Tommy” Taber, numerous step-children and their spouses, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Special thanks to the numerous care givers that lovingly assisted her throughout the last few years. Services will be held E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433, on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 3:00 PM. Visitation will begin Wednesday at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to the St. Tammany Humane Society or The Covington Food Bank, 1420 N. Columbia St. Covington, LA 70433. ===================
