Doris Shelby Singer passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in Mandeville, LA of 
natural causes. 
She was born on May 8, 1925 in Laurel, MS to the late Myer and Doris Brooke 
Shelby.

Doris moved to New Orleans with her family and graduated from Henry W. Allen 
Girls High School on January 25, 1943. Doris worked from New Orleans Maryland 
Casualty Company as a secretary. It was there that she met the love of her 
life, Eugene “Gene” Singer. A lifelong resident of New Orleans, she relocated 
to Mandeville after Hurricane Katrina to be closer to her niece and nephew.

In 1960 Doris married Eugene Singer. They were married for 54 years until his 
passing on December 13, 2014. Doris is survived by her beloved nephew, Robert 
(Bobby) Shelby and his adored wife, Nancy, two nieces and one grand nephew, all 
from Mandeville, LA.

Anyone who knew Doris knows she was a loving and caring person who was full of 
life, spunk and very outgoing. Doris would always smile no matter what life 
threw her way. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service at E.J. Fielding 
Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, June 10, 2016 
at 10:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until service time. 

Interment will follow the service at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 
Covington, LA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
