Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2016/st1607.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Lurline Koepp Alexius, age 90, of Covington, LA died on Friday, July 8, 2016, in Mandeville, LA. She was born on January 4, 1926 in Covington, LA to the late George H. Koepp and Mildred Schoen Molloy Koepp. She married Guido Cinco Alexius who is now decieased. Lurline is survived by her nieces, Joan Prieto Doolittle, Kay Pennington Gotschall, Ruth Burns Joubert, Connie Reed Granthum, Carolyn Burns-Pedersen, and Ann Burns Sacco, and nephews, Giles Pennington, Walter Reed, Richard Reed, and Lindsay Reed. She was predeceased by her sisters, Elizabeth Molloy Prieto, Mildred Molloy Pennington, Audrey Molloy Reed, George Helen Koepp Burns, Meda Adelia Koepp, nephew, J. Ernest Prieto, and niece Mary Golden. Lurline’s life’s work was dedicated to her family and her community. She was a loving wife and enthusiastic aunt to many nieces and nephews. Aunt Lurline’s yearly Christmas party with nativity play was a must attend event for many years as was the family Easter picnic at her house on the Tchefuncte River. She was a graduate of the Louisiana State University where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma. She finished in education. She began her work life with the St. Tammany Parish School System where she taught elementary school briefly. She subsequently worked for Child Protective Services as a welfare worker and eventually helped in her husband’s business, Alexius Brothers Hardware, as their bookkeeper. Lurline was very active with the Covington Lions Club community service organization, the Covington Garden Club, the Greater Covington Chamber of Commerce Auxiliary, and her church home, St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Covington where she volunteered with the Altar Society. Within the last fifteen years she and her sister, Meda, worked tirelessly for the beautification of Covington, primarily raising funds to erect the decorative fence which surrounds Covington Cemetery #1. In later years she moved to Brookdale retirement community in Mandeville where the family continued to gather around Lurline and her late sister, Meda. She died at Heritage Manor Nursing home. Mrs. Alexius was quite social in the community and enjoyed affiliation with the Mystic Krewe of Juno and Covington Country Club. She enjoyed deep and lasting friendships including those of a dinner and theater club that met for nearly twenty years. Also, she and GC were world travelers through the Lions Club. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave. Covington, LA 70433 with visitation AT THE CHURCH from 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow the Mass in Garden of the Pines Mausoleum, Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Masses be said in memory of Lurline Koepp Alexius.
