Shirley Marie Seal Gibson, age 80, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on 
Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mandeville, LA.  

She was born on February 28, 1936 and raised in Covington, LA, graduating from 
Covington High School then raising her family in Covington.  In her younger 
years, she cared for foster children in her home.  She was a caregiver for 
Northlake Sitter and the Council on Aging for many years.  
Her hobbies and enjoyments included reading, plants, flowers, animals, and 
bargains at her favorite stores.  

Her great love was her family.  
She was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Lee Gibson; her sister, Eunice 
Seal; her mother, Elizabeth Seal; and her father, Houston Seal, Sr.  

She is survived by her brother, Houston Seal, Jr (Brenda); her children Cheryl 
Gibson Poole (Darryl), Michael Gibson (Arceli), Spring Slade (Jimmie), and 
Wanda Jenkins; her grandchildren, Dana Wells, Laura Rodriguez, John Robert 
Poole, Gregory Gibson, Jesse Hawkins, Madison Slade, and James Slade.  Also 
survived by 9 great grandchildren.
