He was born on March 29, 1933 in Muskogee, OK. At the time of his death, he had been serving since the year 2000 as Pastor Emeritus of St. Timothy on the Northshore United Methodist Church in Mandeville, La. Prior to that he served in the following positions in Louisiana: Superintendent of the Lake Charles District, Senior Pastor of St Timothy, First UMC in Jennings, Luling UMC, St. John's UMC in New Sarpy, Francis Asbury UMC in Baton Rouge and Corbin UMC. Before coming to Louisiana in 1974, he served UM churches in San Angelo, Texas; Tulsa, OK; Corpus Christi, TX; Forth Worth, TX; San Antonio, TX; El Paso, TX; Dallas, TX; and Cement, OK. He also worked for TranWorld Airlines and served in the U.S. Army. Dr. Maddin was involved in a number of volunteer capacities, including Habitat for Humanity of St. Tammany West Board Member, Samaritan Center of Mandeville Board President, Samaritan Counseling Center of Calcasieu Parish Board Member, St. Charles Social Concerns in Luling Board President, Community Actions Council of Tom Green County Board President, Phi Gamma Delta, Rotary Club, Lions Club, Kiwanis Club and leader of numerous mission teams. He received his Bachelor's Degree from The University of Oklahoma, his Master's Degree from Southern Methodist University and his Doctor of Ministry Degree from The Theological School at Drew University. He is survived by: his wife, Gayle Walker Maddin; Four Daughters, Becky Dufrene (Kerry), Lynn Morris (Mike), Cindy Bennett (Kevin), and Alysia Bennett (Keith); Three sons, Jim Maddin (Mamie), Bruce Maddin, and Rene Davidson, Jr.; 9 Grandchildren, Brandon Bennett (Leah), Blake Bennett, Alexandra Dufrene, Jay Morris, Katie Morris, Jennifer Bennett, Lindsay Bennett, Rene Davidson III, and Reece Davidson; Great-Grandson Brooks Bennett; And one sister, Mary Louise Shiewd.
