Burnett James “BJ” Roy, of Folsom, LA passed away peacefully surrounded by his 
loving family on Monday, July 4, 2016 in Covington, LA. 

Born in Evergreen, LA on March 17, 1936, BJ was a graduate of Southwestern 
Louisiana University and worked as a Field Fire Underwriter for State Farm 
Insurance for many years until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the 
Knights of Columbus and served in the Louisiana National Guard. 
BJ, a loving father and husband, was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who 
enjoyed spending time with his family at his camp in Grand Isle. 

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn (Wallis) Roy, his daughters 
Karen Roy, Michelle Corn (Mike), Monica Sharp and son Burnett James (Jimmy) Roy 
Jr., (Kathleen), his grandchildren Jeremy Dobard, Brandon Dobard (Simone), 
Kacie Ayo (Ricky), Jimmy Roy, Madeleine Roy, Olivia Roy, Jacob Roy, Emma Sharp, 
Sophie Sharp and great grandchildren Emmalynn & Maddison Dobard. 
He is also survived by his sister Mary Ducote and half sisters Mary Martha 
Gaspard and Irene Watts as well as many loving aunts and cousins. 

Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM followed by a funeral mass 
at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on 
Thursday, July 7. 

Burial to follow at St. Louis Cemetery #3 on Esplanade Ave in New Orleans. 

Masses are preferred in lieu of flowers.
