Floyd was a native of Covington and the only child of the late William Floyd Stanga, Sr. and Theresa Kaufmann Stanga. Floyd is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Virginia “Ginger” Coleman Stanga, his two sons, Daryl Floyd Stanga of Madisonville and Blaine Thomas Stanga of Covington, five grandchildren, Daniel Floyd Stanga, Christopher Sterling Stanga, Amy Nunez Jacob, Bridget Leigh Stanga, Abigail Laine Stanga and two great grandchildren, Eli Sterling Stanga and Julia Louise Jacob. He was a graduate of St. Paul’s Catholic School Class of 1954. He served in the US Navy from 1954-1957 and then returned to earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Louisiana State University in 1961. He enjoyed a long career with Louisiana Land and Exploration Company of New Orleans from which he retired in 1985. Floyd enjoyed traveling both for pleasure and on business and visited many countries throughout his lifetime. As a young man, Floyd excelled at sports and was particularly adept at baseball. He was known fondly by the neighborhood children as the dad who loved to help them organize a game by serving as quarterback or designated pitcher. Floyd was an avid golfer and loved spending time outdoors whether riding on his tractor or simply relaxing on the back porch with a crossword puzzle. He rarely missed watching the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9th at EJ Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Ave. Covington, LA. Viewing at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:00 am. Interment in Stanga Cemetery in Bedico, LA. US Navy =================== ========== A photo is available for this file.
