Rick was born and raised in New Orleans and was a long time resident of Gretna, Louisiana. For the last seven years he enjoyed semi-retired life with his loving wife, Andy, and his life long friends at Money Hill in Abita Springs, Louisiana. Rick was a graduate of West Jefferson High School and went on to graduate from Louisiana State University (LSU) where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity (PKT) and earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. Rick joined the Army Reserves in 1972 and proudly served his country for four years. At the time of his death, Rick was employed as a Senior Vice President of Claims by Marsh & McLennan Companies for over 25 years. He was an avid golfer and loved cheering on his beloved LSU Tigers. His greatest joy was entertaining his family and friends at his home where everyone enjoyed Rick’s infamous cooking. He was at his happiest when he was being “Pops” to his beloved grandchildren. Rick was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He is going to be greatly missed. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary “Andy” Hurst Ankesheiln, his sister Fay Ankesheiln Wartelle (Tom), his son Rhett Michael Ankesheiln, adoring daughter Kendall Ankesheiln Parnell (Jordan); stepchildren Paul Michael Gagnet, Jr.(Amy), Patrick Ryan Gagnet (Krista), and Ashely Gagnet Morgan (Michael); grandchildren Blake and Kellen DiTommaso, Myles and Madison Morgan, Greyson Gagnet, and Trent Ankesheiln. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Fredrick “Freddy” Ankesheiln, Jr. and Rosary Fortmayer Ankesheiln. Funeral services will be held at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, Inc., 2260 West 21st Avenue in Covington, Louisiana. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with service beginning at noon. Rick’s beloved Pastor and friend, Eddie Swan, with New Beginnings Church will officiate. The family wishes in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to New Beginnings Church, 19219 North 4th St, Covington, LA 70433. US Army ===================
