He was born on Tuesday, March 12, 1940 in New Orleans, LA to Beatrice Sharp and Willie Neal Johnson and was a resident of Folsom for most of his life. Mr. Johnson proudly served in the USMC from 1958-1964. He was president and CEO of Northshore Crane and Equipment for more than 30 years. He loved to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles and race cars as a young person. He also enjoyed holiday parties at his home and loved to dance. In his later years, Pops(as he was affectionately known), enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed being in the company of good friends, drinking coffee and telling tales at Ramsey Grocery. The beloved husband of the late Mary Alice Morgan Johnson, he is survived by four children - Jeffrey Johnson (Mary), Catherine Sweeney (Mike), Barbie Stevens and Joseph Johnson; three brothers – Gary (Alice), Billy (Carol) and Kerry Johnson; two sisters - Gayle Besson (Lindsay) and Delecia Gibson (Frank); seven grandchildren - Katie Stevens, Michael and Matthew Sweeney, Joey, Jordan and Khylan Johnson, Aletia Martin; and three great grandchildren - Jayden Johnson, Elizabeth Martin and Benjamin Brougham. His parents preceded him in death. Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1 N. Marigold Dr. Covington, LA 70433. Visitation at the church on Saturday will begin at 9:30 AM. Private graveside services at the Willie Cemetery in Folsom, LA will take place at a later date.
