Arvel Willie Rainey, Sr. passed away on August 20, 2016 in Hammond, LA. 

He was born on June 4, 1926 in Independence, LA to the late Willie Rainey and 
Edna Bennett Luper.

Arvel is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Prescia Rainey. 
He was the loving father of Arvel Rainey, Jr. (Nancy). 
Arvel was the proud grandfather of Kelly, Trey, Tina, and Angela. 
He will be dearly missed by his 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-
grandchildren. 
Arvel was the brother of Ed Rainey, Cassie Fitzgerald, Luther Rainey, and the 
late Mary Coats. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at E.J. Fielding 
Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, August 23, 
2016 at 2:00 PM with visitation from 12 Noon until service time. 

Interment will take place immediately following the service at Durbin Cemetery, 
Independence, LA. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Richard 
Murphy Hospice Foundation, 1109 Chestnut St., Hammond, LA 70403.
