Dorothy Elizabeth Sanders passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 in Lacombe, 
LA. 
She was born on Friday, June 12, 1926 in Batchelor, LA to Erwin Charles Hopkins 
and Elizabeth Smith.

Dorothy is survived by her four children, Pamela Pegues (Robert Pegues), Donna 
E. Ewing (J.J. Ewing, Jr.), Dr. Richard J. Sanders, Jr. (Dr. Julie Sanders), 
and James Michael Sanders; ten grandchildren Geoffrey Pegues, Daniel Pegues, 
Jessica Pegues, Kimberly Park, J.J. Ewing, III, Jaymi Johnstone, Rachel Nickel, 
Victoria Sanders, Thomas Sanders, and Joseph Sanders; fourteen great-
grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dr. R.J. Sanders, Sr., her 
parents, and her grandson Richard Sanders, III.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jane de Chantal Catholic 
Church in Abita Springs, LA.

A private service will be held at a later date.
