He was the son of the late Edward Burks and Lillian Burks. He was the step father to the late Joseph A Pittman. He is survived by his daughter Shannon Kay Burks and grandson Christopher M. Richardson Jr. As well as his siblings Hollis Burks, Jeanette Moran, Shirley Bonvillian, Emmy-Lou Frierson, and Ola Mae Virga. Also he is survived by his ex-wife Belinda Ryder Burks. He is a native of Picayune, Ms. and moved to Metairie as a child and moved to the northshore to live out his retirement days on his land. Leonard was a successful building contractor during his life that left his exceptional expertise landmarks all over the United States mainly in Southern Louisiana. He enjoyed building fast boats, being on the water, and studying history, fixing things and a good southern meal with family at the end of the day. Being with family and friends always brought joy to his days. Always willing to help someone with his unselfish heart. He was a true American Patriot country boy. He will truly be missed. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Rd. Covington, La. 70435 at 1:00 pm on Friday September 23, 2016.
