Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2016/st1609.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Oscar Richard Castleman, Age 87 of Mandeville, LA passed away on Saturday, September 03, 2016 at the St. Tammany Parish Hospital. The youngest of nine children, he was born March 24, 1929 in Divernon, IL, the son of Oscar Richard and Lucy Treat Castleman. In 1946 Richard enlisted in the US Navy, and served with honor during the Korean War. As a Radioman, he was responsible for transmitting and receiving radio signals as well as the proper handling and destruction of classified material. Richard served on destroyers that offered cover during the Bay of Pigs invasion, as well as the recovery of the early Apollo sea landings. Richard retired from active duty in 1966 as a Radioman Chief Petty Officer. Richard began his next career in the Louisiana Department of Labor as a Veteran Representative. Later, he served as the Movie Coordinator for the New Orleans Area. Among his duties was finding locations to be used and the casting of extras for many movies, including “The Big Easy” and “Fletch Lives”. After his retirement from the Louisiana Department of Labor he continued working as a Casting Coordinator for several years. An avid saltwater fisherman, his favorite place to fish with his sons and fishing buddy, Champ Vinet, was Delacroix. Richard is survived by his wife of forty years, Joyce Marsh Castleman, formally from Monticello, Kentucky and their sons: Bradley and Kami (children Owen and Miles), Darren and Leanne (children Ryan, Macy, and Drew). He is also survived by five children from a previous marriage: Dennis and Deborah (children Alexandra, Victoria, and Brendan), Steve and Maripat (children Christopher and Michelle), Mark and Michelle (children Tony, Nicole, and Matt), Joy and Randy Enasko (children John, Nicole, and Josh), and Darlene and Rick Tautges (children Cristina and Amanda). Richard is survived by 11 great-grandchildren as well as nephews Morgan and Rustin Jackson, Erik Johnson and David Killen and nieces Lisa Killen and Elizabeth Johnson Tallent. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home Covington, LA, at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow the service at Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery 34888 Grantham College Rd. Slidell, LA. US Navy ===================
