Bob was a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana and after a second courageous battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully on Sunday surrounded by family. Bob was born and raised in New Roads, Louisiana and graduated from Holy Cross High School in New Orleans. He studied at St. Edwards College, Austin, TX, Southeastern Louisiana University, and Tulane University. His career in the maritime sector of the oil and gas industry took him around the world, but the bayous of Louisiana called and Lafayette was his home for more than 40 years. Bob was the eldest of five children born to the late Michel and Elsie Cazayoux. Bob will forever be remembered by his devoted siblings and their spouses Eddie and Faye, Gene and Nanette, Micheline and Dean, and Marilyn. He will live on in the hearts of his beloved sons and daughters-in-law Chriss, Laura, Holden and Priscilla, and his treasured grandchildren Payton, Lyle, William, and Anna Cazayoux. Bob was blessed with friends along every path he traveled, and his friends were blessed in return by knowing him. His companionship and empathy were especially appreciated within rooms of recovery. Bob loved people. He bestowed his wisdom upon many and always encouraged each person to find the best in themselves. Bob’s passions included everything that comprised the culture that is Louisiana. To many he was a local and state ambassador. His favorite activities included attending live music and cultural events, anything that involved being on or near the water, and holding court with his friends wherever they met. Nothing provided Bob more happiness than sharing time and experiences with the children in his extended family. Uncle Bobby’s many nieces and nephews knew they were special because he loved them. His love for his grandchildren cannot be measured by earthly dimensions. He demonstrated his love by sharing experiences of art, music, school events, hunting, fishing, and food that were abundant in his community. Bob touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and was charming all the way to the end. Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass in his honor on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 E. Pinhook Road, Lafayette, LA 70501. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Childrens’ Hospital New Orleans in support the dedicated professionals who care for his beloved granddaughter Payton. ===================
