He was 67, a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for over 50 years. Rick attended and graduated from St. Paul high school in Covington and then went on to U.N.O. before transferring to Xavier in New Orleans where he earned his doctorate degree in Pharmacy. He proudly practiced as a hospital pharmacist for over 35 years and served as a volunteer for multiple hospital committees during this time. Rick had boundless energy, a love of history and was also a gifted pianist. Beloved father for over 36 years, Rick is survived by his children, Richard “Richie” R. Heap Jr., Jessica L. Heap, and Christina V. Heap. He was preceded in death by his Father James “Jim” Heap Sr. and Veronica Boos Heap. He is also survived by his brothers James “Jimmy” Heap Jr., Thomas ”Tom” Heap, and sisters Patricia “Patty” Miremont, Elizabeth ”Beth” Leblanc, Rebecca “Becky” Heap, and Laura Tubridy. His generous heart and sense of humor will be greatly missed. A private Catholic Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Covington, LA. A private inurnment will be at the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery in Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mr. Heap’s memory to LSU Neuroscience Center at give.lsuhealthfoundation.org (select “OTHER” and specify “Neuroscience Center in memory of Mr. Heap” in comments). ===================
