Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2016/st1610.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Cody Augustino Lucia, the dear husband and best friend of Cheryl Poche Lucia, died at the age of 77 in his garden in Covington, Louisiana. In addition to being survived by his wife, he leaves behind his children Stephen (April) Lucia, Christine (Rodney) Bell, Theresa (John) Mondello, and Paul Lucia; his grandchildren Laura, Tyler, Andrew, Chelsea, Maria, Sarah, Luke, Ashlyn, Grace, and Rebecca; his sisters Rosalie (Gerald) Sander, and Mary (John) Snyder; and many nieces and nephews. Cody was preceded in death by his parents, Angelina Barreca Lucia and Vincenzo Lucia, Sr., and also his brothers Anthony, Joe, and Charles. Cody attended elementary school at St. Mary of the Angels and St. Rita in New Orleans, and St. Charles Borromeo in Destrehan. He graduated from Cor Jesu High School, now Brother Martin, in New Orleans. He received his BS, MEd, and 30+ hours in education from Nicholls State University and was employed by the St. Charles Parish School Board as a social studies teacher until his retirement in 1998. Cody proudly served in the U. S. Army for 3 years as a typist clerk and mailman. He qualified marksman on the M-1 and expert on the M-14. Later in life, he also served three years in the U.S. Naval Reserves. Cody will be missed not only by his wife and family, but also by his many friends with whom he shared his flowers and organic produce that he cultivated in his back yards. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to bid Cody farewell on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 20370 Smith Road, Covington, LA. Visitation will begin at 9:30am followed by the recitation of the rosary at 11:15am and the funeral Mass at 12:00 noon which will be celebrated by Fr. Matthew Clark, O.S.B. from St. Joseph Abbey. Interment will be in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery in Covington. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 1655 McGill Avenue, Mobile, AL 36604.
