Montalbano Sr., 79, of Lacombe, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016, in Lacombe. He was born July 20, 1937 in NOLA’s 7th Ward. Beloved husband of the late Beryl J. “Jeanie” Bordelon Montalbano. A.J. met the love of his life at St. Mary’s School in September 1953. He is survived by his children Donna M. Martin (Keith), Terri M. Brennan (Mark), AJ Montelbano Jr. (Kim) and Michele M. Brustowicz (Mark) and sweet dog “Annie”. He also leaves to cherish seven grandchildren: Tara Denevan (Shane), Mark Brennan (Debolina), Brad Brennan (Lena), Kelly LeBlanc (Jon), Lauren Barrios (Rob), Kasey Montalbano, and Taylor Brustowicz (Bri); seven great- grandchildren: Kolby, Brody, Julie, Lyla, Joey, Faith, and Gracelyn; and numerous grand dogs, especially his Zoie. Son of the late Joseph P. Montalbano and Marie Heck Montalbano; brother of Joseph F. Montalbano (Millie), Loretta M. Dagro (Andrew), Calvin Montalbano (Nora), Gerald Montalbano (Karen) and the late George F. Montalbano (Joann), Theodore Montalbano (Rose), John Cerniglia Sr. (Carol) and Charles Cerniglia (Seria). A.J. was always active in his community and determined to make it a better place to raise his family. He was a successful retired insurance agent, for the National Life (American General) and Union National Insurance Co. for 35 years. In 1971, he became Harahan’s first part time building and zoning inspector, having later formed the city’s Regulatory Department and serving an expired term as City Alderman. In 1979, AJ and his family moved to the Northshore (Lacombe) with their future retirement plans in mind. He volunteered his knowledge in planning and zoning for 10 years as representative for District 7 (Lacombe). He later was elected twice as Justice of the Peace in Ward 7 Lacombe. Though he fully retired in November, 2006, he continued to serve the people rendering assistance through performing weddings. In 2012, he was appointed chairman of St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District 3 until present. He also served his country in the Army National Guard for nine years. He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Lacombe, Louisiana and served as an usher. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. Visitation will be held at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 61051 Brier Lake Rd, Lacombe Lousiana on Thursday, October 6, 2016, beginning at 10:00am. Funeral Mass will follow at the church at 12:00 noon. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. ===================
