Rothermel, Jr., of Covington, Louisiana, passed away at home on October 8, 2016. Born October 29, 1932 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee where he was a proud member of the Tennessee Marching Band and Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Walter married the love of his life, Mary Anne, in March of 1953, and recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary. After working in the paper industry for over 40 years, he retired while living in Texarkana, Arkansas. After retiring, he and Mary Anne toured the country in their motor home. He loved God, his family and the Tennessee Vols. He is predeceased by his parents Lucile and Walter Rothermel, Sr.; his brother Robert C. Rothermel; his sister Carol Ann Carlton; and grandson Christopher Hailey. He is survived by his wife Mary Anne McCallum Rothermel; daughters Julie Rothermel Simon and Carolyn Rothermel Adams of Covington, Louisiana; son Alan Rothermel and his wife Ashley of Pineville, Louisiana, and daughter Tracy Rothermel of Little Rock, Arkansas; grandchildren Ashley and Brandon Sellers; Lindsay and Pete Leidl; Rachel, Caleb and Ben Adams; Scott and A.J. Rothermel; and three great grandchildren, Jack, Millie and Tabb Sellers; one brother David Rothermel; brother-in-law Gene Carlton; sister-in-law Frances Rothermel; and a number of nieces of nephews. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Drive, Mandeville, LA 70471. A time of Visitation will begin Saturday at 10:00 AM. Interment of the ashes will take place on October 29th at 10:00 AM at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Alexandria, LA.
