She was 89. Born October 30, 1927, in Mobile, AL, she was a graduate of the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA. After working as a registered nurse for a number of years, she—with first husband Leonard—helped found and manage Builder’s Components, a construction and real estate development company in Slidell. Mell’s highest calling and her joy in life was her family. She loved her children unconditionally, and she adored every minute she was able to spend with her six grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress and cook, and a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Slidell. She will be remembered for her sincere faith in Christ, her great sense of humor, and her kindness to all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Francis Daugherty of Mobile, AL; first husband Walter Leonard Woods, Jr. of Slidell; second husband Jack Gaines Bryan of Slidell; son Jack David Bryan of LaRue, TX; and son-in- law, Stephen Sibley of Baton Rouge, LA. She is survived by her children, Jan Sibley of Baton Rouge, LA; Ellen Bryce, and husband Mickey, of Mesa, AZ; Len Woods, and wife Cindi, of Ruston, LA; Patricia Freeman, and husband Jim, of St. Amant, LA; by sisters Gill Breshears, of Oklahoma City, OK; and Myrna Sandlin, and husband Don, of Canton, GA; by grandchildren, Laura Jones, and husband Nick, of Globe, AZ; Becca Bryce, of Mesa, AZ; Patrick Sibley, of Baton Rouge, LA; Walter Woods of Nashville, TN; Michael Bryce, Jr., and wife Kjerstin, of Oklahoma City, OK, and Jack Woods, of Nashville, TN; and by two great grandchildren, Kate and Samantha Jones, of Globe, AZ. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, December 2, 2016, at First Baptist Church, Slidell, LA. A brief graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Slidell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Slidell. ===================
