Ms. Gloria Pitello, age 69, retired local physical ed. teacher, passed away on 
Thursday, November 17, 2016. 

Gloria is preceded in death by her father Anthony Pitello, and her brother 
Ernest Pitello. 

She is survived by her mother Giovanna Pitello, 98 years of age who lives in 
New York, and her siblings; sister Madeline [Joseph ] Papa of New York, sister 
Maria Chapman of Ohio, sister Giovanna [ Patrick ] Kerr of New York, brother 
Anthony [ Madeline ] Pitello of New York, and brother Salvatore [ Cathy ] 
Pitello of New York. 
She also is survived by 11 nieces and nephews and 29 great-nieces and great - 
nephews. 

Gloria moved to Louisiana from New York in the late 1970’s to pursue a teaching 
career, eventually settling in her present home in Abita Springs and teaching 
at Abita Springs Jr. High. 
Since retiring, she was an active volunteer at local hospitals; she was also an 
avid Miata Club member who thoroughly enjoyed their monthly outings. 

Gloria’s family extends an invitation to all friends and relatives to attend a 
Memorial Visitation being offered on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 1:00 pm – 
4:00 pm at Gloria’s home on 71246 Sanders Street, Abita Springs, LA.
