Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2016/st1611.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== A private memorial service will be conducted for the residents and staff of Christwood Retirement Community Friday, December 9, 2016 from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. in the Garden Room for Barbara (Bobbie) McGaha Murphy Viscardi, age 87, who passed away November 19, 2016 at her residence in Covington, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on December 17, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, LA. Bobbie is survived by her five children: Daniel Michael Murphy, Barbara (Seci) Hollier, David Timothy Murphy, Sherrilyn (Sam) Newman, and Shawn LaCroix; brother, Ronald McGaha; 13 grandchildren: Steven Murphy, Charles Murphy, Kristin Englebrecht, Shannon Hollier, Jennie Faucheaux, Kellie Smith, Kristi Murphy, David Murphy, Aubry Burg, Amy Tramonte, Bryan Newman, Rachel LaCroix and Brittany LaCroix; and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel Joseph Murphy, Jr., and second husband, Peter Viscardi; her parents Jake and Beulah McGaha; brothers Donald McGaha and Norman Rae McGaha. Bobbie was a native of Oak Grove, LA. She moved to New Orleans where she married Daniel Murphy and raised her family in Gretna, LA. After Daniel’s death, she married Peter Viscardi and moved to Falls Church, VA. She and Peter later retired to Gulf Shores, AL. After Peter’s death she moved to Covington, LA as a resident of the Christwood Retirement Community. Bobbie enjoyed entertaining family and friends and had a real passion for gardening, cooking, sewing and arts and crafts. Her greatest treasures were her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and she looked forward to their many visits to her home for vacations and holidays. Her memory and heritage will live on in the many recipes she handed down and the plant cuttings she shared.
