James Clinton Whitehurst passed away on Monday evening, November 21, 2016, at 
Heritage Manor in Slidell, LA., at the age of 83. 
He was born in Laurel, MS., lived in Gautier, MS., for most of his life, and 
resided in Slidell for the past two years. 

He worked in the shipbuilding industry, in ship design and construction. James 
graduated from USM with a degree in geology, he loved and collected crystals 
and other rocks. He loved to play the mandolin, was a member of many bluegrass 
bands, and was a former president of the American Legion in Gautier, MS. 
James had a passion for gardening, his favorite pastime was spending time with 
family and friends. 

He was the husband of the late Winnie Faye Whitehurst for 25 years and the late 
Mary Joyce Whitehurst for 25 years. Father of Sandra Olsen (Michael), Douglas 
Whitehurst and Amy Joy Demers. Grandfather of four, Joshua Olsen (Lauren), 
Andrew Olsen, Sean Demers & Colette Demers. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Turner Clinton and Grace Elizabeth Staples 
Whitehurst, two brothers and two sisters.

A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
