Preceded in death by his Parents Catherine Sue Walters Bush and Edwin Edwards Bush, his brother Kenneth Elliot Bush. All from the Richton, MS area. He is survived by his loving wife Sara Lynn Gill Bush, his sister Deborah Sue Scarbrough, nieces Jennifer Herrin, Tiffany Weathersby, and nephew Boone Weathersby. Mr. Bush was born in Mississippi and moved to Mandeville in 1965. He attended Mandeville High School, where he was a member of the band, playing the trombone and would later make music his lifelong career. Eddie also attended Southeastern Louisiana University, majoring in Music Education, his main instrument being the trombone. Two of his greatest influences were Robert Priez and Bob Weatherly. Upon graduation he began teaching band at Slidell Junior High School and St Tammany Junior High School. After a couple of years, He taught full time at Slidell Junior High School for total of 36 years. He inspired many young musicians and loved his job. Eddie was most proud of Tim Aucoin, whom besides being in band, learned to play bass from him. Tim played with big bands at an early age, majored in music and is currently enjoying an outstanding career in teaching in Georgia. Mr. Bush was an accomplished bass guitar player and over the years played in the band “Now and Then”, playing bass, as well as his wife, Sara playing keyboards. He also played in the big band orchestra “Encore” for many years on the south shore. In recent years he played with the New Orleans trombone Choir. Mr. Bush loved his cats dearly, never turning away a stray that turned up or one that he and Sara found, he also loved his Koi fish pond. Mr. Bush was a member of the “Save the Manatee Club”, loving the beautiful creatures. Mr. Bush was never a big “reader” until his wife gave him the book “Watchers”. He became an avid reader after that and always told everyone it was because of that, and everyone should read that book. Mr. Bush’s favorite place to vacation was Panama City Beach. He and his wife went a couple of times a year and after retirement ever more, going to see the show band, ”Clutch”, and going to Schooner’s where every day at sunset a cannon was shot. Eddie loved looking at the water and the sunset there. After retirement Eddie also took up golf and with a lot of practice he would play with his friends. When at home, he loved riding on the lakefront after going out to lunch. One of his favorite things about that was getting to see the four labs in someone’s front yard. The owners never knew how happy it made him to see these beautiful dogs. Eddie will be terribly missed by his wife of 43 years, his cats and by all of those that knew and loved him. Eddie was a kind and gentle person with a great sense of humor. Eddie relied on God to take him through this last part of his life, and he was comforted by this. Rest in peace, Eddie. Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial on Monday January 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, 75212 Lee Road, Covington, LA.
