Mary Theresa Olsen Flickinger passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Slidell 
Memoria Hospital at the age of 52. 
She was born in New Orleans and lived in Slidell, LA for most of her life. 

Mary graduated from Salmen High School and Phillips Business college, she 
worked for Daily Sentry News and Clarion Harold. She was also owner of Nola 
Candle Factory. 
One of Mary’s many passions was art. She loved making jewelry out of polymer 
clay, painting beautiful designs on shoes, scrollwork and cabinet making. She 
also loved music, we know she is dancing in heaven now.

Mary is survived by her loving son, Nathan Josef Flickinger and her beloved 
husband Josef George Flickinger, her mother, Elise Marie Olsen and preceded in 
death by her father, Irwin James Olsen, Jr. 
Also, survived by her siblings: Sandra; Kathleen; Michael (Sandy); James; Anne; 
Trina; many nieces and nephews. 

She was loved and will be missed by family and friends. Mary’s view of life can 
be summed up in one quote, “Life should not be a journey to the grave with 
intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but with 
the body thoroughly used up, totally worn out screaming WOOHOO what a ride”.  

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services 
at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Blvd, Slidell, LA 70458 on 
Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. 
Visitation at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, on Saturday, January 28, 2017 
from 9:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Rosary at 10:30 A.M.
