He was born on June 21, 1934 in New Orleans, LA to the late Julius Henry Helfritsh, Sr. and Victorine Menant Helfritsh. Julius was the loving father of Jacqueline A. Helfritsh, Julius H. Helfritsh, III (Jody Davis), and Jeffery M. Helfritsh. He was the proud grandfather of Audra Cox and Rae Treptow. Julius was the brother of the late Shirley V. Kastrop. A native of New Orleans and graduate of Warren Easton High School, he was born into business as his dad owned Helfritsh Hardware on Franklin Avenue. He moved to Mandeville in the early 1950’s and began working with the telephone company. Soon after he taught himself to repair TV’s and was known as the TV Man. He opened a nightclub in Mandeville in the early 60’s and named it Hotsy Totsy. It was a popular bar on the corner of Hwy.190 and Lonesome Road which was known then as Hotsy Totsy Road. His energy and love for the game of baseball led him to coaching several championship teams in the Fourth Ward area. He was a highly sought-after pitching coach and taught many young athletes. Being a talented artist, he worked with Mandeville High School’s Football program and produced its Football Paper for years. He may be best known for his New Orleans Saints posters he drew and silk-screened each year for over a decade. His parody of the Saints was enjoyed by many. Relatives and friends are invited to the FUNERAL SERVICE at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Thursday, January 26 at 11:00 AM. A WAKE will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. VISITATION on Thursday will be from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will be at the Mandeville Mausoleum following the service. ===================
