Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2017/st1701.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Charles Francis Kraus passed away peacefully at his home in Madisonville, LA, Thursday evening January 19, 2017, at the age of 87. He was born in Syracuse, New York. Charles was a resident of the North Shore, St. Tammany Parish for the last 28 years. He is survived by his wife, Virgie Rihner Kraus for 29 years. and four children; Steven, Dr. Marilyn, Lorraine, and Lawrence. Grandfather of five grandchildren: Michael, Christina, Kevin, David, and Robert. Great Grandfather of seven, and numerous step children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Charles was a CPA and retired from McDermott International in 1989 as Vice President for tax administration. Following his graduation from LeMoyne College in 1952, he served as a supply corps officer in the U.S. Navy for three years during the Korean War. Following his military service, he was employed in public accounting, including two former “Big Eight” firms: Arthur Young & Co. in New York City and Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. in New Orleans. Charles enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing the piano (especially Chopin), and square dancing. He loved his Catholic faith. He had a strong devotion to Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother through the holy rosary. The family would like to thank Notre Dame Hospice for their loving care of Charles. May his soul rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred; donations to Notre Dame Hospice or Charity. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday afternoon January 23, 2017, at 1:00 pm at St. Peters Catholic Church, Covington, LA. Visitation at the church at 12:00 noon. Followed by the inurnment at the St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, Covington, La. U.S. Navy ===================
