Carlos was the only son and oldest child of Charles Pumilia Jr. and Gloria Maria Monterroso Pumilia, who both preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons Charles Alexander Pumilia and his wife Amanda Forde Pumilia, and Anthony Joseph Pumilia, his wife Julia Coe Pumilia, and their children, Carlos’ grandson Charles Anthony and granddaughter Prima James. Carlos is also survived by his three loving sisters: Maria “Chiqui” Pumilia Collier and her children Amy, Virginia, Jason, and Ben, and their spouses and children; Natalia “Tina” Pumilia Pastore and her husband Rugerro, their children Gabriella, Angela, and Roger, and their spouses and children; and Doria Pumilia Durham, “DD,” her children Kyle and Elizabeth, and their spouses and children. He is also survived by his loving devoted sweetheart Elizabeth Schoen Dauterive, her children Heather, Luke, and Emily, who loved Carlos as a father, and their spouses. Elizabeth’s eight grandchildren adored him and affectionately called him Momo at his request. Carlos was born May 12, 1949 and raised in New Orleans’ Gentilly' neighborhood. He graduated from John McDonogh High School in 1967 and spent most of his career in the real estate business as an appraiser and agent. He married Lisa Blanchard in 1976, and they started a family 3 years later. Ever the entrepreneur, Carlos also worked at various times in film, TV, and theater production and performance as well as in the telecommunications service, equipment, and infrastructure industries, to name a few. Carlos had an infectious eternal optimism and rebounded many times from personal, financial, and professional loss, in no small part because he was a tenacious worker and prolific dreamer. Even after his first cancer diagnosis in 2014, he could be found with his friends at his adopted office at Starbuck’s in Mandeville, discussing his business and pet projects while encouraging and connecting others in pursuit of their own endeavors. When that cancer was basically gone, no one was surprised because Carlos said it would be ok, so it would be. Now that he is gone to be with his parents, he can finally rest himself while inspiring the rest of us from above. Service for Carlos will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Covington on Monday January 16 at 12 pm. Visitation will be held before starting at 10:30 am. A GoFundMe account has been set up to cover any additional end of life expenses, and donations may be contributed there in lieu of flowers, if desired. https://www.gofundme.com/carlos-pumilias-final-expenses ===================
