Bertha Abbott Williams passed away on Thursday January 19, 2017 in Covington, 
LA at the age of 98. 

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, R.L. Williams, Jr. 
She was born on Monday, July 8, 1918 in Trenton, TX to the late Ethel Legg and 
James Monroe Abbott.

Bertha was the loving mother of the late Wesley Lewis Williams, Jane Williams 
Jay (Webb), and Robert Keith Williams (Debbie). She was the proud grandmother 
of five grandchildren, Roger Williams (Lisa), James Jay (Sarah), the late 
Kristi J. Grounds, William Jay (Hannah), Meghan Kidd (Kyle), Victoria Dedeaux 
(Logan). Bertha is also survived by her many great-grandchildren and two great-
great-grandchildren.

Bertha was an avid golfer and was a member of New Orleans Country Club and Beau 
Chene Country Club. She was a strong, fun-loving, one of a kind lady that will 
be missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to express their appreciation and thanks to those who 
took part in her care.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at New Covenant 
Presbyterian Church, 4375 Hwy 22 Mandeville, LA 70471 on Wednesday January 25, 
2017 at 11 AM with visitation from 10 AM until service time. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made the Michael J. Fox 
Foundation, P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
