Janis Dupre Smith passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, February 14, 2017, 
from a brief illness, at the age of 82.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eldon James and Isaphine Rosalie Dupre 
and her only sibling, Arthur Dupre, Sr. 

Janis was married to Allen Smith for 60 years, until he passed away in 2015. 
Janis and Allen were inseparable and each other’s best friend. 
They enjoyed many years at their camp in Mississippi, gambling at the 
Mississippi casinos, and cheering on the New Orleans Saints. She was a die-hard 
“Who Dat” fan and loved her years as a season ticket holder. 

Janis worked as a lab technician at Quest Diagnostics until she retired. 

She is leaving behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Janis 
especially adored her friends and all of the employees at Pontchartrain Health 
Care Center and was grateful for the love, care, compassion and even the food, 
while she was a resident. 

The family is appreciative of the excellent care Janis received in her final 
days from Hospice of St. Tammany.

Private services are scheduled for a later date.
