Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2017/st1703.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Emmanuel “Tony” Gibbons, 86, died on Ash Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Gardens in Mandeville, La. He leaves his wife of 62 years, Flora Gibbons; his daughters Carol (Mike), Denise, & Diane (Jesse) and is preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Katherine (Dave). He leaves five grandchildren, Jerilyn (William), Durrell (Donyel), Tony, Tyler, & Kyle, and four great-grandchildren, Kaelyn, Evan, Caleb, & London. Tony, a French-Canadian, was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. He received the nickname Tony as a young boxer. Tony eventually met and married Flora in 1954; they came to the States in 1956. He became a lineman for Detroit Edison and retired in 1992. Tony also had his own business, “Tony’s Tree Service” where he continued to climb well into his retirement. Tony loved his “vino”, dancing, and trips to the casino and was the life of any party. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Visitation will take place on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Drive Covington, LA 70433 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM with Memorial Mass at 11:0 AM. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St. Benedict, LA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alexander Milne Developmental Services, 1065 Milne Circle, Covington, LA. A legacy memorial garden will be established in memory of Emmanuel “Tony” Gibbons. ===================
