He was a wonderful husband, father, son and brother, and he was everyone’s best friend. We will remember his life warmly because, hot dang and cold couscous, we all loved the way he lived it. Family was Don’s number one love, his wife Gail; children Tristan (Jennifer) and Christine; father the late Francis Hinkley (Barbara) whose death preceded his own by only a few weeks, mother Doris Lutz; brother Richard Hinkley (Agnes); and nephew Daniel Hinkley (Natalia) and their two children. His close-second love was golf, both playing the game and attending the Masters in Augusta. Other passions included travel, the Saints, baseball, travel, watching old westerns with his dad, enjoying Mardi Gras as a member of the Krewe of Chewbacchus with his daughter, travel, celebrating Octoberfest, and so much more. Don retired from the IRS 12 years ago. He was never crazy about his job, but he liked the way he did it. This speaks to how he lived his life – he found the light side of everything and never turned down a chance to enjoy life. He was also a Vietnam veteran and a damn fine American. Services will be on Thursday, March 30th at St. Genevieve Church, 58203 LA 433, Slidell, LA. Visitation will be at 1 pm with a memorial service following at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in his memory. US Army ===================
