He was a child of the depression. The effects of living through the depression, like not having your own bed to sleep in until age 9, had a lasting effect and largely formed the passion “Pat” Miramon had for providing safe quality homes to raise our children in. He was raised in New Orleans and after spending 2 years in the South Pacific Ocean defending America during WWII, he married Gloria Schindler in 1948. Gloria was Pat’s anchor and safe haven from all the pressures of the world. They created a sound family and while strict on discipline they were generous on experience. They loved to Dance, Yacht, and Snow Ski which they also enjoyed teaching their children. They spoiled their kids in Adventure. When Pat ventured into the world of Construction in 1950, he quickly became devoted to building safe, quality Communities. He went beyond just building houses, and focused on building Neighborhoods. He made sure to include shopping, schools and Churches in his neighborhoods. And he built for all levels of income and worked hard to defend housing people can afford. His work ethic was simple. He always said “to be successful you only have to work ½ a day every day”. He then explained you “just have to choose if that will be the first 12 hours or the last 12 hours of day.” He related to people’s Character and not their Status and he treated everyone the same. He was always ready to give a hand to someone up and coming, if they held true to the ideals of Honesty and Quality. He also said, it’s your Warranty and how strongly you stand behind your construction that makes you a Good Builder. As a father to his four girls, Debbie McMath, Donna Campbell, Dolly Miramon and Denise Miramon, he was firm but supportive. He did not hand out compliments and ONLY expected the best from them. He did slip however and tell one daughter once, “you know kid, every now and then, you screw up and do something right.” From him, that was quite a compliment. Which is odd for his generosity was vast. Few people know just how much he gave to Churches, Organizations and individuals in need. His Subdivisions have stood the test of time and remain premier Neighborhoods in all income levels as has his reputation. His accomplishments are far too many to list in this Obituary but, suffice it to say this man has had a significant and positive affect on the growth and prosperity of this area. There has never been an individual like this man before and there will never be. I don’t think the human body could handle that much Awesomeness. He is survived by his wife: Gloria Schindler Miramon and daughters: Debbie McMath, Donna Campbell, Dolly Miramon and Denise Miramon and Son in Laws: Don McMath, Brian Campbell, and Richie Brockhaus and grandchildren: Tiffany McMath Hymel and Jason Hymel, Patrick McMath and Jayne McMath, Christen Campbell Siegel and Stephen Siegel, Brian Douglas Campbell and Betsy Campbell, Catherine Campbell, Sadie Istre and Yvonne Bryant. And great grandchildren: Hazel, Cole and Jace Hymel, and Mary and Margaux McMath, Sydney and Brant Siegel, Brian and Elton Campbell, and Hunter, Hayden and Harper Istre.
