He married and built a life with his childhood sweetheart, Jean Warner Schoen. Those 59 years of marriage were enriched by their sons, Gary, Preston (and wife, Jeniffer), and Stephen—and later, by 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Gary, the son of Gladys Burns Schoen and Cyprian J Schoen Sr., spent his life dedicated to his birthplace of Covington. After the passing of his father, his Uncle Steele assisted in raising Gary and his brother, Cyprian J Schoen Jr., from an early age. Gary also leaves behind his nephews, Jeffrey and Mark Schoen. The hallmarks of Gary Schoen’s life were his complete devotion to his family, his military service, commitment to his faith in Christ, and bestowing a smile on all who crossed his path. He was a man who loved with strength, honor, and tenderness. A memorial will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church, Thursday, March 9. Visitation will occur at 10AM followed by a service at noon. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jason D. Wood. Faith Presbyterian is located at 16330 Highway 1085, Covington. A reception will follow at Covington Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, 222 S. Jefferson St., Covington, LA 70433 until 3:00 P.M.
