Mary or Mimi as she was known later in life, is survived by her daughter Elisabeth du Passage and son Christopher du Passage, his wife Angele and grandsons Jacques and Emerson, her sister June Francis (Louis) and ex-husband Gerard du Passage. She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Martha Frost Moore, her sister Martha Ann Evans and nephew, Robert Bowden. Mary is also fondly remembered by numerous cousins and relatives in the US and abroad. Mary was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1939 and did her undergraduate work at Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia. At the urging of a fellow student who turned out to be her sister in law, Mary traveled to France to study for a semester. This altered the trajectory of her future because it was in Paris where she met and fell in love with Gerard. They were married in Shreveport, honeymooned in Bella Vista, Arkansas and headed to Brooklyn, NY to start a family; that always included dogs! In the 1970’s Mimi began to seriously explore her passion for writing. She attended classes and writing workshops in Manhattan and quickly gravitated towards poetry. Over the decade she expanded her circle of friends and collaborators and she found her poetic voice during this period in her life. She co-founded a poetry magazine titled The Bad Henry Review with two close friends. The first edition was published in 1981 and the magazine ran until 1999. In 1992 Mimi published her first book of poetry titled after one of her favorite poems, 4 Squares Declare 5. The forward to that book was written by novelist/poet Gilbert Sorrentino and that was a great sense of pride for her. In 2000, Mary and Gerard returned to Louisiana to live near their grandsons in St. Tammany Parish. Mimi published her second book Marbles in 2009. Even though Mary and Gerard decided to end their marriage, they remained very close friends up until she passed away. Mimi was a very strong, creative and independent woman who used writing to battle the often wide ranging emotions she felt. Despite this ongoing inner dialogue, Mimi was also the kindest, most loving and generous person you could imagine. She was loyal and supportive to a fault when it came to her family, her pups and her friends. She will be missed dearly by family and friends alike. Services will be held at the Christ Episcopal Chapel, 120 S. New Hampshire Covington, Louisiana 70433May 8, 2017 at 12:30pm followed by an interment at St. Joseph’s Abbey Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to either the Ben Blanchard Foundation, www.benblanchardfoundation.com or your local Humane Society. E.J. Fielding Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements. ===================
