Philip William “Dosie” Gottschalk passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 
surrounded by family at his home in Goodbee, LA. 

He was born on December 21, 1937 in Goodbee, LA to the late George William 
Gottschalk and Eva Cecile Bush Gottschalk.

Dosie is survived by his beloved wife, Lela Whitehead Gottschalk. He was the 
loving father of P. Wallace Gottschalk (Vanessa) and Wade Clayton Gottschalk 
(Shannon). Dosie was the proud grandfather of Gage and Meredith Gottschalk, 
Corey and Allison Wall and Brody, Jacob, and Liam Gottschalk. 
He was the brother of Leander Gottschalk, Theodore Gottschalk, June Fussell, 
and the late George R. Gottschalk, Doris Sharp and Linda Henderson. Dosie is 
survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dosie retired from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry after 
44 years of dedicated service as a wildland firefighter. He was an avid 
outdoorsman with a deep love and respect for the natural world.

The Gottschalk family extends sincere thanks to St. Tammany Hospice, Derek, 
Alden, and Dee for their kind and gentle care.

A private family service was held at Bennett Cemetery, 10002 Bennett Cemetery 
Rd., Folsom, LA.
