Ruth Bass Phillips, 85, a longtime resident of Chalmette, and a resident of 
Slidell, LA, for the past eleven years, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 
2017.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents: Robert O. Bass and 
Elizabeth Saucier Bass; and one sister: Sylvia Ellis.

She is survived by her husband: Edgar Leroy Phillips; five children: Ronald 
“Mark” Phillips (Carol), Judy Ann Phillips, Alan Paul Phillips, Susan P. 
Hickey, and David Lee Phillips (Theresa); two sisters: Margie Thompson, and 
Carolyn Mackell, seven grandchildren: Lauren Tallo, Kristine Hickey, Kenneth 
Hickey Jr., Daniel Hickey, Katelyne Hickey, Dawson Phillips, Gianna Phillips; 
three great-grandchildren: Malayna Hickey, Madison Dupriest, Cael Tallo. 

A native of New Orleans and a graduate of Nicholls High School. She was a 
longtime resident of Chalmette where she was an active member of First Baptist 
Church, Arabi as a Sunday School Teacher and Choir member. Ruth Phillips is a 
beloved mother and a prayer warrior, who will be greatly missed, but know that 
she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers, Ruth requests donations be made to the Louisiana Baptist 
Children’s Home in Monroe, La.

Funeral Services will be held at HONAKER FUNERAL HOME, 1751 GAUSE Blvd. WEST 
(IN FOREST LAWN CEMETERY), Slidell, LA on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.

Friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 9:00am.

Burial will be in FOREST LAWN CEMETERY.
