He was 75. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served aboard an aircraft carrier during the Vietnam War era. He attended the University of South Florida in Tampa and was a 1978 graduate of Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. Jerry was a member of the New Orleans Contact Lens Society for over 36 years. Dr. Wickline practiced family optometry in Baton Rouge for 35 years before semi- retiring and relocating to a part-time practice in St. Tammany Parish in late 2014. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His daughter, son- in-law, and two precious granddaughters were his pride and joy and Grandpa was his favorite title. He enjoyed racing cars in the late 1960’s where he met his wife and his other great pleasures were watching LSU football games with his son-in-law and the annual trips to the beach with family. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 47 years, Mary Elizabeth “Sissy” Jones Wickline, a daughter Sarah Elizabeth Wickline Hull and her husband Patrick Hull and two granddaughters, Margaret Mary Elizabeth Hull and Evelyn Fay Ann Hull, all of Covington. He is survived also by two brothers, Robert Wickline of Dent, MN. and Ronald Wickline of Spring Hill, FL., a sister, Carol Dickerson Evans and husband, Dr. Roger Evans of Benton, KS., and a paternal aunt, Bernadine Wickline Andrews of Springfield, VA. Additionally he is survived by a special “adopted” daughter, Ashley Logan and husband, Kevin Logan of Baton Rouge as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Margaret Wickline. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jack Saux, III and the staff of Northshore Oncology Associates, the 3 East oncology staff of St. Tammany Parish Hospital and Dr. Suarez and the staff of Notre Dame Hospice for the kindness, love and professional care provided by all. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Fr. Otis W. Young, Jr. at St. Peter Catholic Church located at the corner of Jefferson and 19th Avenues in Covington, LA on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by Mass at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be given, in his memory, to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. U.S. Navy ===================
