He was born in Queens, NY to Michael and Antoinette Zimic. Richard moved to Miami as a young man, and he graduated from Miami Beach High School in 1947. He received a B.S. in Business at the University of Miami. Richard spent 37 years in Huntington, Long Island, where he raised his family and was a sailing enthusiast at the Sagamore Yacht Club. After moving back to Florida in 1993, Richard became an avid Master Gardener and Rosarian. He served as president of the Marion County Rose Society and was also an active volunteer at the University of Florida Agricultural Extension Office. In his later years, Richard, a nine-time marathon runner, enjoyed walking every morning with his local walking club. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years Frances, his siblings Antoinette Zimic, Marie Lanthier and Emil Zimic, and granddaughter Jesikah Schierenberg. Richard is survived by his adoring children Margaret de Laureal, Tricia Zimic, Terry Schierenberg and Larry Zimic and his loving grandchildren: Kathryn Schierenberg, Emile de Laureal, Armand de Laureal, Maxine Segarnick, and Lahna Segarnick. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a memorial mass scheduled to take place at 6:30 PM on Friday, April 28, 2017 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433. A time of visitation will begin at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, ===================
