Please go to http://usgwarchives.net/la/sttammany/obits/dateobits/2017/st1705.htm and click to view list of photos. ========== Elroy Anthony Badon, Sr., 92 years old, peacefully departed his life in the arms of the Lord on Sunday, May 28, 2017. He was a World War II Army Airforce veteran in the 8th Air Cargo Re-Supply Squardron. Corporal Elroy Badon’s occupational specialty was “Carpenter” and qualified as a “Rifle Sharpshooter”. On March 12, 1946, after three years of military service, he was honorably discharged by the United States Army. The eight awards he received were the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic- Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Two Bronze Service Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Metal, Distinguished Unit Badge, Victory Ribbon Lapel Button and #1 Overseas Service Bar. “Sir Knight”, Elroy Badon, Sr., was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member. As a member, he participated as part of the honor guard when Pope John Paul II visited New Orleans on September 12, 1987. At that time he met the Pope and had the honor of shaking his hand. He also shook hands with General Douglas McAuthur during World War II. For years he was a carpenter with Badon Construction, building homes within the St. Tammany community. He was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, hunting and fishing. Daily, he enjoyed taking long walks and riding his bicycle. He was a life-long native of Madisonville, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norvice Hutchinson Badon and is survived by three sons, Elroy Anthony Badon, Jr., Lonnie Joseph Badon and Troy John Badon. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death are his parents Louis Badon, Sr. and Ida Mary Lange Badon along with his two brothers, Louis Badon, Jr. and Robert Badon and two sisters, Louise Badon Narcisse and Odelma Badon Baham. Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St Mary St, Madisonville, LA 70447 on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until service time.
