Michael was born in Portsmouth, VA to Jose and Barbara Gallegos. He graduated from Walker High School in Louisiana where he made many friends for life on the West Bank. After many adventures and jobs, he received a CDL to work with Schneider. After he worked there for many years, he continued on to college in Memphis TN, where he earned a technical degree in which he was certified to teach new drivers how to drive. He was also so proud to have worked for Schneider National for many years with his friends Gary, Frank, T-Dawg, and John just to mention a few people who meant so much to him. Michael eventually worked for Lockheed Martin, as a Senior Technician, where he enjoyed many years and was proud to be part of the space program. He worked on the external tank for NASA shuttle and the Orion program. He always talked about his work, even though we never knew what he was talking about. He was so enthusiastic about his work and the people he worked with that it felt like we were there with him. Just to name a few people that he talked about was Terry Lee, Todd, Jason, Debbie, Big Mike, and Kevin. Mike was a person that people naturally drew to. He made lifetime friends everywhere he went. He was always the life of the party and very interactive with everyone. If he liked you, he would have something that he would continually pick on you with. For example, when he met Vanessa Featherston, he thought her name was veronica. From then on, he would still call her Veronica even though he knew her name was Vanessa. If anyone ever knew Mike, they would know that he was a die heart 49ers fan. The legend is said that while he lived in Japan, the only football game that he could ever watch was the 49ers. When they moved back to the states, his dad Jose took him to his first football game and that was also the 49ers. From then on, he became one of their biggest fans. Mike’s favorite holiday was Mardi Gras. Every year, we would all get together with his friends James Moore, Wig, Zeke and many more, where we partied, catch beads and coconuts and celebrated for all the good times. Whenever he was not working, which was not often, he loved going to the beach and sitting out in the sun. But, most of all he love being with his dogs Niner (his partner in crime), Abby, Hope, and his cat kitty- kitty. Michael is survived by Melanie Gallegos his wife, his two sons Michael Featherston and Daniel Featherston, his two Daughter in laws Stacy Featherston and Vanessa Featherston his two grandsons Randall and Cameron, His Father Jose Gallegos, his Mother Barbara Gallegos, his Sister Beth Lopez, his brother in law John Lopez, his two nephews Shawn and Jack Lopez, Sister-in-Law Reba Johnson, and other family and friends. There will be a private celebration of Mike’s life held with his family. Bagnell & Son Funeral Home, Covington, LA in charge of arrangements. ===================
