Carol was born to the late Velma Purdue Wiyrick and Earl Carlton Wiyrick in Bryan, Ohio. After moving to St. Tammany Parish, Carol became a student of the arts, continuously honing her prowess as an artist to become an accomplished sculptor, painter, and author. One of her most notable works, “Katrina,” published in Quest Magazine in 2006, details a spiritual account of the destructive hurricane bearing the same name. A champion for victims of child abuse, Carol dedicated years of zealous support to the Children’s Advocacy Center-Hope House in St. Tammany Parish. The Children’s Advocacy Center honored Carol by establishing and awarding to her the Carol Keay Award, an award embodied by a bronze angel sculpted by Carol herself (Broken Wings). Carol also endeavored to improve herself and others through the Theosophical Society, where she obtained spiritual growth and utilized every opportunity to share her love and kindness with everyone she could. Carol’s most beloved and notable accomplishment, however, was being a loving wife to her husband of 52 years, Curt William Keay, a devoted mother to her three children, Bryan William Keay, Cindy Keay Wicker, and Courtney Keay Lindsey, and a cherished grandmother to Brandon William Keay and Brooke Elisabeth Wicker. While her physical presence is survived by the family she loved, Carol’s soul is now free to enjoy the bounty of spiritual knowledge awaiting her as an angel. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Carol’s life at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, May 20, 2017 with a gathering starting at 1:00 pm and a brief remembrance at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Carol’s family requests donations in memory of Carol to be made to the Children’s Advocacy Center-Hope. ===================
