On Thursday May 11, 2017 Joan “Joanie” Marie Phipps, age 61 of Pearl River, LA 
went to be with the Lord. 

She is survived by her husband David Elkins, her children William Hilton III 
(Tabitha), Tabatha Umbach (Fred), Marva Hawkins (Shayne), Sandy Crawford 
(Jarmin), and Danielle Elkins, her brothers; Doyce Phipps, Jr. (Karen), Ricky 
Phipps, Clyde Phipps, Teddy Morvant (Maggie), and Jay Phipps (Cindy), and 
sisters; Linda Parent (Rodney), Sandy Gisclair, Melanie Skinner, Judy Cashman 
(John), Dana Phipps (Melvin), Rena Graf (Charlie), Nina Robertson (John), Kathy 
Sketoe, Aileene Bartholomew (Earl), and Denise Holmes. 

Mrs. Joanie is also survived by her grandchildren; Fred Jr., Meagan, Hayley, 
Joshuah, Hannah, Rhea, Kyle, Elizabeth, Dacey, Laney, Alex, Jarmin Jr., Jairen, 
Lexie, Liam, William IV, and Charizma, one great grand child L.J., her mother and 
father in law Sid and Lou Elkins, and her brother and sister in laws; Sid Jr. 
(Julie), Bobby (Mary), Becky (Mitchel), Russell (Stacey), and many aunts, uncles 
and nieces and nephews.

Joanie is preceded in death by her parents Lucille and Doyce Phipps, her sisters 
Patricia Kosplich, and Gwen Borras.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday May 16, 2017 at 12pm from the chapel of 
D.T. Williams Funeral Home 67525 Hwy 41 Pearl River, LA 70452, with visitation 
from 10am until service time. 

Interment to follow at Hickory Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Pearl River, LA.

Pastor Walter Heine to be officiating.
