She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Smith Van Osdell, Sr. and Myrtle Yarbrough Van Osdell, a brother, Benjamin Smith Van Osdell, Jr., and an infant brother Wesley Van Osdell. Sylvia is survived by her husband of 56 years, Roy Michel LeBlanc, Sr., her three children, Judith LeBlanc Achary (Michael), Roy Michel LeBlanc, Jr. (Karen), and Eric Matthew LeBlanc (Norma). Sylvia was an adoring grandmother to Andrew Achary (Dana), Philip Achary, Lindsay Achary, Katherine Fish (Jebb), Roy Alexander LeBlanc, Victoria LeBlanc, Isabella LeBlanc, Karen Nishimoto (Ben), Katherine Murillo, and Joshua Murillo; great-grandmother to Lauren Fish, Grady Fish, Gavin Nadeau, and Bear Nishimoto. Sylvia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who lived a full life in support of her loving family. She was a life-long New Orleanian and moved to Mandeville twenty years ago. Sylvia was a graduate of John McDonogh High School and Cappell Beauty School. She was a fun-loving positive person who was deeply religious and giving. Sylvia loved family vacations, Mardi Gras, cooking, was a dog lover, and had many friends. Her outgoing personality and beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Pontchartrain Health Care Center and Hospice of St. Tammany Parish Hospital for their loving care and support. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass celebrating Sylvia’s life at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 312 Lafitte St., Mandeville, LA 70448, Reverend Chris Zavackis officiating, on June 9th at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories in Metairie, LA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Francis Animal Sanctuary, P.O.
