Edgar “Mac” Joseph McManus, Jr., age 72, of Slidell LA, passed away on Tuesday, 
June 27, 2017.

Father of Bryan McManus (wife Tara), Christine McManus Smail (husband Chris), 
and Robin McManus Duhon (husband Richard)
Brother Earl Patrick McManus and sister Virginia McManus Lechner

Will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Tate, Nathan, Nicholas, Madeline, 
Caden, and Cailey.

“Mac” McManus was the first born to Edgar and Norita McManus and was raised in 
New Orleans, LA. After graduating from Nichols high school, his mother 
encouraged him to “go to work for the government”. He listened to his mother 
and was hired by the federal government in 1962. Mac and his family moved to 
Slidell in 1973. He had a long and distinguished career achieving the position 
of Federal Senior Executive at the USDA National Finance Center. He retired 
after 39 years. He enjoyed a good cigar, his friends, Nascar, golf, traveling, 
his children and grandchildren until he died due to heart failure after 
battling multiple myeloma for eight years. Mac McManus will be fondly 
remembered and greatly missed.

Services will be at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, Slidell, LA 
70458, on Thursday, July 6, 2017. Visitation from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00A.M with 
service at 11:00 A.M.
